7 measures for travel in Colombia after COVID - 19 - Go and Travel
Updated: Aug 28, 2020
The planet is breathing, our unstoppable pace of life has stopped and so has the impact we were making on it. We decided to see the positive side of all things and surely nature is thanking us for this time, not all the effects of this time are negative.
Our country, the land of tastiness, is part of the block of the 17 megadiverse countries of the planet, and in our territory is found 10% of the biodiversity of the earth. As a country, 68.7% of our surface is covered by natural ecosystems. We have 41 National Natural Parks, 11 Sanctuaries of Fauna and Flora, 2 National Natural Reserves and 5 biosphere reserves throughout its five regions. According to these figures, not all of Colombia is standing still today. If I were an iguana, or a colorful bird I would be happy in my territory, I would say: "finally man stopped and is not mistreating me", it seems that the air and water is in better conditions. Surely when the humpback whales begin to arrive they will find the seas more friendly for their calves to be born.
Today, dolphins show us in the bay of Santa Marta and many other animals have begun to explore rural areas, things that did not happen long ago.
So when we travel again, we have to take care of this great treasure, but above all, we have to take care of ourselves and our family. According to our research with major world tourism referents, these will be the main measures to reactivate tourism:
1. Local tourism will be activated, we will travel initially to places very close to our home. Possibly we will start with day trips to natural and sparsely populated environments. Letting us be surprised by the wonderful things that our territory has to offer.
2. Forget about masses of people traveling to the same place. We will enjoy more intimate spaces, where we can finally walk calmly without a river of people behind us. No more mass tourism.
3. Biosafety protocols in all public places. Which brings higher standards in hygiene and sanitation. Travelers will prefer small hotels where there is less exposure to contagion. Hotels with closed common areas and with a capacity of less than half is what is imposed worldwide.
4. Use of face masks in all public spaces. In some countries of the world its use is mandatory. In Colombia this regulation has not yet been defined, but it is a suggestion that you should take into account.
5. Airports, bus stations or any type of transportation service will have a sterilization area.
6. Mandatory use of masks in the means of transport.
7. The reopening of tourism will be carried out in phases, starting with the places where the contagion is under control. Some countries are planning to create tourism gateways, which will connect regions with similar biosecurity conditions.
Today is an atypical moment, but we will travel again. In Go and Travel we have a daily follow-up of the news of the sector and we are working to offer our clients a safe tourism offer. In the meantime, we will continue showing you new places in Colombia and the world.
