You can ascend by cable car or funicular, if you wish. Be sure to check schedules and fares before your visit, and remember to dress appropriately as the temperature at the top can be cooler than in the city.

Day 4: Visit to Guatapé and Peñol, from Medellín

On this fourth day, once you are settled in Medellín, we suggest you to visit the Guatapé Rock and the town of Peñol. The road trip from Medellín takes approximately two hours.

Guatapé is surrounded by a reservoir, presided over by its enormous crag. This imposing rock formation offers impressive panoramic views of the region; it is accessed by climbing its 740 steps. The reservoir is dotted with islands and peninsulas, and offers the possibility of various water activities and boat rides.

After visiting the rock, we encourage you to explore and enjoy the charming town of Guatapé, with its colorful facades and unique architecture, without forgetting to take a stroll along the boardwalk by the lake.

Day 5: Medellín, the City of the Eternal Spring

On this fifth day we will soak up the essence of Medellín. It is the second largest city in Colombia, and represents a magnificent combination of modernity and culture. It is surrounded by mountains that offer breathtaking panoramic views, and its climate is wonderfully temperate.

It stands out above all for the remarkable transformation it has undergone in recent years, developing numerous social projects and betting on urban innovation.

From Go and Travel, we suggest you to take a City Tour with our recommended guide, with whom you will visit the San Antonio Parkthere you will learn about the past of Medellín, the Junin Street and the Berrío Park. While strolling around you will be able to contemplate some of the most famous murals of Medellín, such as the one by Pedro Nel Gómez.

In the center of the city awaits you at the peculiar Botero Squarewhere the undisputed protagonists are the iconic sculptures of the famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero . These voluptuous figures are an integral part of Medellin's artistic identity, and will pleasantly surprise you .

In Go and Travel, we have our guide Pablo, who explains firsthand the enormous transformation that the city has undergone. To whet your appetite, listen to this episode of our podcast: In Colombia we are waiting for you. Where we interview our guide in Medellin.

DAY 6: Visit to Graffitour Comuna 13

On this day we recommend you to visit a very special neighborhood. The Comuna 13 of Medellín. Affected by violence many years ago, it has now become a symbol of resilience and urban art. Its steep hills are decorated with colorful murals that tell the story of the community and celebrate its rebirth. Today it is an example of overcoming and community revitalization in the city.

In this very special neighborhood, art and music are the hosts. Both, the architects of this urban renewal, have managed to transcend the barrier of historical contingencies. Comuna 13 is now seen as an attractive, innovative and ideal place to learn more about paisa culture.

DAY 7: Cartagena de Indias - the Pearl of the Caribbean

Sunrise in this historic jewel of the Colombian Caribbean is an unforgettable experience for your senses. A city of colonial architecture, with enormous Caribbean charm and cobblestone streets that tell centuries of history.

Cartagena was founded in 1533 and since then has witnessed hundreds of years of history marked by pirates, conquistadors and traders.

We recommend a city tour that will take you through places that reflect a tumultuous past, such as the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, the Clock TowerClock Tower, the Santo Domingo Square and the Palace of the Inquisition

Take a leisurely stroll through its streets, visit the Simon Bolivar Square and culminate the walk in one of the oldest religious buildings in the Americas, the Cathedral of Cartagena. We guarantee that while you contemplate all these wonders, you will be accompanied by impressive stories of pirate attacks and heroic deeds.

DAY 8: Visit to the Rosario Islands

Visiting the Rosario Islands is the finishing touch to this trip. These islands are probably one of the most sought after destinations in the Caribbean. The Rosario Islands are made up of dozens of islands, cays and coral reefs, including the spectacular Bela Island.

At Go and Travel, we propose a day you will never forget. The route starts in the bay of Cartagena, heading south. The panoramic tour of about forty-five minutes sailing through the islands that make up the Rosario Islands Natural Park will not be long enough.

And to recover after absorbing so much beauty, the best thing to do is to enjoy a relaxing day at the beach surrounded by reefs in the paradisiacal Bela Island, where you can swim in warm and calm waters. There you have reserved for you a place to sunbathe and relax with the pleasant caresses of its breeze.

DAY 9: End of trip

Depending on the time of your flight, you will have free time to enjoy the city of Cartagena, so take advantage and continue exploring the city. Immerse yourself in a tale of living history, among cobblestone streets, vibrant colors and murmurs of the Caribbean.
