Learn a little more about the Mavecure Hills

The Mavecure Hills, part of the Guyanese Shield, are ancient rocks located on the banks of the Inírida River near the capital of Guainía, Colombia. Composed of three main hills, Pajarito, Mono and Mavecure, they are recognized for their spectacular nature and their cultural importance for the local indigenous communities.

These rock formations are considered sacred and have been an integral part of the lives of the tribes that inhabit the region since ancient times. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to explore these stone giants, ascending to their summits to enjoy unparalleled panoramic views of the surrounding jungle.

To get to the Cerros de Mavecure, you will have to take a flight from Bogota to the city of Inirida, the gateway to this wonderful adventure.

Fernando Carrillo's work in the Aroma Verde Foundation

Fernando Carrillo is a biologist, rural development specialist and founder of Fundación Aroma Verde. He points out that Guainía, Colombia's fourth largest department, is 98% composed of indigenous territorial entities called resguardos, characterized by a low rate of deforestation.

Flor Irinia Colombia

This region attracts community and nature tourism, focused on connecting with ancestral communities. Access is through the Inirida airport, from where you can appreciate Amazonian landscapes and the transition between the jungle and the orinoco, including the famous white sand savannas, home of the Flor de Inirida.

Known as the "New York of the jungle", Guainía is home to a variety of ethnic groups and is characterized by its river mobility, as there are no roads in the area.

Fernando leads an innovative project at Fundación Aroma Verde: the release of bees. This project not only protects the biodiversity of the region, but also promotes a crucial ecological balance for the Amazon rainforest.

In addition to its ecological impact, Fernando's work benefits local communities economically and socially, offering opportunities for territorial development and conservation.
