What is the climate like in Colombia?

One of the most important aspects of the climate in Colombia is that it is uniform throughout the year. Being in the equatorial zone, we do not have seasons and the time the sun rises or sets does not change. Our climate varies according to the thermal floor where you are. This makes us one of the most biodiverse countries in the world.

In Colombia it is possible to find hot climates, deserts and coasts to snowy peaks with temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius just by climbing a mountain.

We have two seasonal regimes. In some parts of Colombia we have two rainy seasons, from April to June and from August to November; and two summer seasons from December to April and from June to August, but in other areas such as the Orinoco, the Amazon, the lower Magdalena and Cesar we have one rainy season and one summer season.

When is it best to travel to Colombia?

Having all climates and no seasons, it is possible to travel to Colombia at any time of the year. But, depending on the season you visit, you will find different wonders of nature that depend on the amount of rain or drought to present themselves. We are going to explain you region by region:

Orinoquia and Eastern Plains:

Spectacular landscapes and unparalleled natural wealth. Its extensive plains and proximity to the Amazon make it home to the five largest animals in the Americas. The Jaguar (the largest feline in America), the Giant Anteater (the largest Anteater species in the world), the Anaconda (one of the longest and largest snakes in the world), the Giant Otter (the largest otter on the planet), and the Capybara or Chigüiro (the largest and heaviest rodent in the world). It is the perfect destination for adventurers and ecotourists, if you visit it you will know the wild and authentic Colombia.
